Steam for the building industry: Delos chooses Trevil Boilers

The customer


Delos is a company specialising in the solution of all problems of the flue system: efficiency, safety, compliance with standards. The company was founded in 2000 by Mascherpa TG and has acquired skills at the highest levels in the sector, thanks to in-house technicians with great experience and a highly specialised workforce. Depending on the necessities and specific binding conditions of each case, Delos proposes different solutions, from the repair of the existing flue to the creation of a new one, with a range of intermediate possibilities to satisfy all the customer’s needs,

The requirements

In existing buildings, Delos repairs flues by installing a polymer sheath that is inflated to adapt to the walls of the flue, then polymerised to keep its shape. Before Trevil appeared on the scene, the Delos installer would take a diesel-fuelled steam generator installed on a truck, then the steam was “taken” to the entrance of the sheath with long pipes (with loss of temperature). In addition, the choice of the parameters (time, temperature) was left to the “good will” of the installer, who worked without any useful parameters for judging the success of the polymerisation performed. Delos asked Trevil for a solution that would make the transfer of steam more efficient and offer a safer polymerisation process.

The solution

Trevil provided an economic and functional response to these requirements, applying the company’s planning and production capacities.

The boiler

Development of a small boiler, easy to handle, fed by electricity, that could be taken close to the entrance of the flue: it is much easier to lay an electric cable than steam pipes. Also the cost of hiring a generating set to feed the boiler is negligible compared with the use of a diesel-fuelled steam boiler on a truck.

The algorithm

Study of an algorithm which, based on the diameter and length of the sheath, fixes the parameters to be respected in order to achieve correct polymerisation, depending on the external temperature.

The control system

Integration of a control system in the machine (for pressure and temperature over time) that guarantees:

  • Efficacy of the result: by respecting the correct polymerisation algorithm
  • Validation of the process: by recording the data on a paper (with a writing device incorporated in the system) or on a memory card
  • Safety: in the event of sub-optimal or excessive temperatures or pressures the process is automatically interrupted, triggering systems that avoid damaging the sheath (for example, maintaining the pressure in the sheath, which otherwise would collapse and have to be thrown away).
